	1 Review  |  Add your review    •  Ted Carey  with RIM BlackBerry 7290 A Superb HTML Browser I had previously used version 1 of Minuet and was quite pleased with it. I contacted the developer and asked for a few changes and enhancements. Version 2 of this product is a superb HTML Browser for the Blackberry platform. I have also used Opera Mini and Reqwireless Webviewer(no longer available) Both of these products use a proxy server which raises some security concerns. Minuet runs entirely on the Blackberry with no middleware involved. Minuet will allow Blackberry owners to surf HTML sites even if you don't have BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) by using HTML over a WAP gateway. The software can be configured to accomodate both fast and slow networks ie by loading all the text first followed by the graphics. It can also load sites in the background while viewing a different site. Screen real estate can be preserved with an ingenious auto hide staus bar that vanishes after the page loads. Small screen rendering is excellent and Minuet's ability to filter decorative images speeds loading. The program also launches very quickly as opposed to Opera Mini which can take forever to start initially. Configurable shortcut keys are a welcome addition. Simply tap the 1 key, enter the url and hit return and you are at your site. This is a big improvement over version 1 which required you to press the trackwheel. A Suretype option makes Minuet fully functional on the 7100 series Blackberry. Version 2 now supports HTML input forms and employs dynamic memory management that can automatically delete the least recently viewed page in the cache to free up memory as needed. This is an elegant and well written J2ME app that sets a new standard for mobile Blackberry software.
